Specialist School Community Latest News
Yet another excellent term for our specialist status. Rosebery has two new specialist teaching assistants Miss Dare (ICT) and Mrs Cordwell (maths). They have provided excellent support for students in lessons. Our school Virtual Learning Environment (vle.rosebery.surrey.sch.uk) goes from strength to strength. The number of students using the VLE each day is growing and many subjects now use the VLE to post homeworks and learning materials for students. This term has seen the launch of the house pages on the VLE, with discussion forums and competitions being very popular.
The Maths Department has run a number of activities including visits to Surrey University and a joint maths quiz with Blenheim High School. Computer Club for Girls grows in number each week, with excellent work being produced by students in Years 7 and 8. There have also been a number of video conferences involving girls from all years and a variety of subjects. This is a very exciting development and brings the world into our classrooms. Support for our primary schools continues to flourish. This has included maths teaching, ICT support and the building of a VLE for Tadworth Primary School.
Rosebery’s specialist status was praised in our recent OFSTED inspection. Following changes in the rules by the DCSF, specialist schools must now re apply for new funding following an OFSTED inspection. I am pleased to report that a bid has been sent this week and we hope to hear in February if we have been successful. I would like to thank all the staff and students whose hard work has made this all possible.
