Getting to school safely
By Bus
All buses going between Epsom and
Leatherhead pass the end of White Horse Drive, with stops
nearby on both sides of the road. Girls must take particular care in crossing
Dorking Road and be sure to use the Pelican Crossing. Please
contact your local bus station for fares.
All further information about travel
passes can be obtained from Surrey County Council’s Traveline on 0870 608
2 608. Please see our map and instructions on how
to find us and a copy of the buses that serve Epsom and
Rosebery.
By Train
To Epsom Station: Girls may walk along Station Approach
to West Street and follow the route along West Hill and
Rosebank, leading to the footpath by the school playing
fields (known as ‘the Cabbage Patch’) which
leads to the end of White Horse Drive – this route
takes about ten minutes. If girls are staying
late for practices during the winter evenings,
we advise them to use the main road – this
takes about twenty minutes. Girls walking to and
from Epsom Station should use the pedestrian crossing to
cross West Street.
By Car
White Horse Drive is a narrow cul-de-sac with parking restrictions. In order to avoid accidents we ask parents to drop girls off at the bus space in the Dorking Road. It is a very short walk to the school. Under no circumstances should parents park on the zig-zag lines outside the entrance or drive on to school premises to drop off or pick up their daughter unless, of course, there are mobility problems where specific arrangements have been made in advance.
There is very little parking space at the school for meetings and events. Usually we have an arrangement for parents to park at Epsom Hospital, just across the Dorking Road. We hope this will continue next year. If you have an appointment with a member of staff you may use one of the visitor's spaces at the front of the school.
By Bicycle
Bicycles should be parked in the
areas provided. Cycle
sheds are available and bicycles must be padlocked to the
stand. Cycling Proficiency tests are essential for
those cycling to school, and bicycles must be in a roadworthy
condition. Cyclists must dismount before entering
the school grounds. All detachable parts such as
lamps and pumps must be removed and should be kept in either
lockers or school bags. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND
THAT CYCLISTS WEAR SAFETY HELMETS AND LUMINOUS BANDS OR
STRIPS. (A map of cycle routes in Epsom & Ewell
Borough may be obtained from Epsom Town Hall).
