Events & Trips
At Rosebery we have a varied programme of visits and off timetabled activities to support the curriculum, a list of which is shown below. These visits/activities take part mostly during the school day and support learning in the classroom. There is usually a cost involved for these types of activities, for example Medieval Day, Geography Field trip, a visit to a Gallery.
In order for these activities to take place Rosebery school asks for a voluntary contribution from parents. If the activity cannot take place without voluntary contributions, this will be made clear to parents from the outset. We are also required to inform parents that there is no obligation to make such a contribution.
Legislation states
‘…no child should be excluded from an activity simply because his or her parents are unwilling or unable to pay. If insufficient voluntary contributions are raised to fund a visit, then it must be cancelled.’
Parents in receipt of various benefits are exempt from paying for ‘optional extras’, these benefits are:
- Income support
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
- Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Child Tax Credit, provided that Working Tax credit is not also received and the family’s income ( as assessed by Her Majesty’s revenue and customs) does not exceed £15,575 ( Financial Year 2008/09)
- The guarantee element of State Pension Credit : and
- An income related employment and support allowance that was introduced on 27 October 2009.
When an activity is planned parents in receipt of any of the above benefits should inform her daughter’s Head of House, in confidence of their financial situation.
In order for a student to take part in an educational visit, parental permission is required in writing. If your daughter has lost a consent form a substitute can be found at the following link. Parents Consent Form
